  1. PROCOMM PLUS for Windows

  5. Upgrading PROCOMM PLUS for Windows 1.01 to version 1.02
  6.  
  7. IMPORTANT:  Do not perform the update while running Windows!  Be sure to exit
  8. Windows completely and perform the update from the DOS prompt.
  9.  
  10. Follow these steps to update an existing installed copy of PROCOMM PLUS
  11. for Windows 1.01 to 1.02:
  12.  
  13. 1.  Since you've already executed PW101.EXE, copy the five files it has
  14. created - PATCH.EXE, PW102.RTP, UPDATE.EXE, 102FIXES.TXT and READ.ME -
  15. to your PROCOMM PLUS for Windows "home" directory.  The home directory
  16. contains all of your PW executables; these files end with the extension
  17. ".EXE".  Note that if any executables are missing from this directory, they
  18. will be skipped in the update process without displaying an error message.

  20. 2.  Next, change to your PROCOMM PLUS for Windows home directory.  From
  21. the DOS prompt, type
  22.  
  23.         UPDATE
  24.  
  25. and press Enter.  UPDATE will display status and error messages as necessary.

  27. 3.  Run Windows and run PROCOMM PLUS for Windows.  Under the Help menu,
  28. click on the About PROCOMM PLUS item; if the version reported is 1.02, you
  29. have successfully updated PW.EXE.

  31. 4.  You may wish to repeat Step 3 for each of the utility programs included
  32. with PROCOMM PLUS for Windows (the User Window Builder, the Dialog Editor,
  33. the GIF viewer and the Dialing Directory conversion program.  The Windows
  34. ASPECT script compiler displays a version number when you attempt to compile
  35. a program - the version reported should be 1.02.

  37. 5.  After all files have been successfully updated, the UPDATE program
  38. automatically deletes the files included in the archive except 102FIXES.TXT.
  39. However, you should delete PW101.EXE and any remaining copies of the archive
  40. files (PATCH.EXE, PW102.RTP, UPDATE.EXE, 102FIXES.TXT and READ.ME) to
  41. conserve disk space.
